About

Jardins en Fleur is the latest incarnation of Simon P. Scott’s chinoiserie collection, Jardins en Fleur. Founded in 2008, Jardins en Fleur was Scott’s collection of furniture, lamps, ceramic accessories, hand-painted silk wallpapers and framed panels.

The aim of Jardins en Fleur is to provide exciting wall decor using the talents of traditional silk wallpaper artists in rural China and to become the resource for customizable, heirloom quality artwork with a special emphasis on Chinoiserie.

Q: WHY “JARDINS EN FLEUR”?

A: LITERALLY FRENCH FOR “GARDENS IN BLOOM,” JARDINS EN FLEUR WAS FOUNDED IN 2008 BY SIMON P. SCOTT TO INJECT SOME MUCH NEEDED COLOR, WHIMSY AND TASTEFUL PERSONALITY INTO INTERIORS EVERYWHERE.  THE COLLECTION WAS AN INSTANT HIT WITH DESIGNERS, CLIENTS, THE PRESS AND CHINOISERIE AFFICIANADOS AROUND THE WORLD.  THE NAME IS A LITTLE BIT DIFFICULT TO SAY BUT THAT WEEDS OUT THE MEEK AND MOST PEOPLE REMEMBER IT--AT THE LEAST AS “THAT COMPANY WITH THE FUNNY NAME

Q: WHAT IS CHINOISERIE?

A: CHINOISERIE
(SHEEN-WAH-ZUH-REE)

REFERS TO A RECURRING THEME IN EUROPEAN ARTISTIC STYLES SINCE THE SEVENTEENTH CENTURY, WHICH IS CHARACTERIZED BY THE USE OF FANCIFUL IMAGERY OF AN IMAGINARY CHINA.

Q: WHY CHINOISERIE?

A:  A: TO QUOTE A DISTINGUISHED DEBUTANTE FROM WEST PALM BEACH (WHO SHALL REMAIN NAMELESS) WITH IMPECCABLE TASTE: “CHINOISERIE JUST MAKES EVERYTHING FEEL A LITTLE COOLER, DON’T YOU THINK?”

Q: HOW DOES ONE ORDER HAND-PAINTED SILK WALLPAPER?

A: C’EST TRES FACILE! YOU CHOOSE YOUR MOTIF, ONE OF OURS OR ONE OF YOURS, YOU CHOOSE A BACKGROUND COLOR SILK (BEGINNING WITH WHITE SILK, WE DYE TO MATCH SO YOU CAN EVEN PROVIDE YOUR PANTONE OR BENJAMIN MOORE COLOR), GIVE US THE MEASUREMENTS OF YOUR ROOM...IT’S THAT SIMPLE.
